How to choose the right one
-
Check the pool shape
Shape determines how the pool fits your yard. Round models like the Steel Pro MAX series have a compact footprint. They work well on small patios or in tight corners. Rectangular pools, such as the APX 365 or Power Steel lines, require more linear space. These shapes offer longer swimming lanes. Choose round for efficiency. Choose rectangular for capacity and lap swimming. Measure your available area before deciding on the shape.
-
Compare filter types
Filter type affects maintenance and water clarity. Most models use a standard cartridge filter pump. This is simple to clean and replace. The APX 365 and Power Steel series include a sand filter pump. Sand filters handle larger debris volumes and require backwashing. They often suit larger pools with higher water turnover. Check the attributes list to see which system is included. Pick cartridge for ease. Pick sand for heavy-duty filtration needs.
-
Assess height and capacity
Wall height indicates water depth and overall volume. The Steel Pro MAX 12-foot model has a 30-inch height. It holds less water but fits small spaces. Larger models like the APX 365 and Power Steel have 52-inch walls. These hold significantly more water, suitable for families. The 14-foot and 15-foot round pools have 48-inch walls. Verify the height spec matches your comfort level. Deeper pools offer a more substantial swimming experience but require more water and chemicals.
-
Review included accessories
Some sets come with extra gear. The Steel Pro MAX 14-foot and 15-foot models include a pool cover and a ladder. These items add value and convenience. The 12-foot model does not list a ladder or cover in its attributes. Check the specific model attributes before buying. If you need a ladder, ensure it is included. Covers help keep debris out of the water. Verify the package contents to avoid buying missing parts separately.
-
Measure the footprint
Dimensions dictate installation space. The 12-foot round pool is 144 inches wide. The 20-foot APX 365 is 240 inches wide. Rectangular pools like the 31-foot APX 365 are 376 inches long. Ensure your yard can accommodate the full diameter or length. Leave room for the pump and filtration unit. The weight specs also matter for transport. Heavier models like the Power Steel weigh 351 pounds. Plan your setup area carefully based on the length and width specs.
