Specifications side by side

Choosing Your Framed Pool Specs

1. Check Pool Height

You should verify the water height before buying. Most listed models, including the Intex Ultra XTR and Bestway Power Steel, stand 52 inches tall. This depth allows for comfortable swimming and treading water. Taller pools hold more water, which stabilizes temperature better than shallow options. Ensure your yard has enough vertical clearance for the frame structure. You also need space for the pump attachments on the side. A 52-inch height is standard for durable framed pools. It provides a balance between capacity and stability for most backyard settings.

2. Select Frame Shape

Your yard layout dictates the best shape. Round pools like the Intex Ultra XTR 24ft offer a 24-foot diameter. This shape maximizes swimming space in a compact footprint. Rectangular pools, such as the Bestway Power Steel, measure 24 feet by 12 feet. This layout suits longer yards and offers lane-swimming potential. You must measure your available ground space carefully. The rectangular shape requires more linear yard length. The round shape fits better in corner spaces. Choose the shape that matches your property dimensions first.

3. Verify Filter Type

You need to check the filtration system included. Many top picks, like the Intex Ultra XTR and Bestway Power Steel, use sand filter pumps. Sand filtration handles larger debris and requires less frequent cartridge changes than cartridge filters. You should confirm if the pump is included in the box. Some kits bundle the pump, while others sell it separately. Sand filters are generally more durable for heavy use. They also maintain water clarity with less manual intervention. Ensure the pump size matches the pool volume for proper circulation.

4. Assess Weight Capacity

You must consider the total weight of the filled pool. Large rectangular pools like the Intex Ultra XTR 24ft x 12ft can weigh over 350 pounds empty. Once filled with water, the load increases significantly. You need a level, solid ground surface to support this weight. Soft soil or grass may shift under the heavy load. A concrete pad or compacted sand base is often necessary. Check the product weight specifications to plan your installation. Proper ground support prevents frame warping and liner damage over time.

5. Look for Included Kits

You should check if essential accessories are bundled. The WaterThat 12ft Steel Frame Pool includes a ladder and sand pump. This makes it a complete kit for smaller yards. Other models may require you to purchase these items separately. You need a ladder for safe entry and exit. The pump is essential for water circulation and cleanliness. Bundled kits simplify setup and reduce additional costs. Verify the contents list before finalizing your choice. A complete kit ensures you have everything needed for immediate use.
