Specifications side by side

How to choose the right one

1. Check the pool height

Most framed pools under $500 stand 48 inches tall, but some models vary. The Intex Prism Frame sits lower at 42 inches. This shallower depth suits smaller yards or users who prefer easier access. Taller pools hold more water but require steeper ladders. You should measure your available space and consider who will use the pool. A 48-inch height is standard for most families, while the 42-inch option offers a more compact footprint for tighter areas.

2. Compare diameter and shape

Round pools dominate this price range, but diameter changes the footprint significantly. The Intex 15-foot model offers the largest 180-inch width, ideal for spacious backyards. Smaller 14-foot options fit tighter spaces. You need to ensure your yard can accommodate the full circle. A larger diameter provides more swimming room but requires more ground preparation. Measure your space carefully before choosing between the 14-foot and 15-foot models to avoid installation issues.

3. Verify included accessories

Some sets include ladders, covers, and pumps, while others sell these separately. The Bestway Steel Pro MAX 15-foot set includes a ladder and pool cover. The Intex 15-foot model lists a filter pump but may lack other gear. You should check the product description for exact inclusions. Missing a ladder can make entry difficult. A included cover helps with maintenance. Compare the feature lists of each model to determine if you need to buy extra items.

4. Assess frame durability

Steel frames provide structure, but finish quality varies. The Bestway Steel Pro MAX uses a rust-resistant design for longer life. The Intex Prism Frame also highlights rust resistance. You should look for models with protective coatings to prevent corrosion. A sturdy frame ensures the pool holds its shape under water pressure. Check the material specifications in the product data. Choosing a model with a robust frame finish reduces long-term maintenance and extends the pool's usable life.

5. Match pump specifications

Water filtration is essential for clean swimming. Most sets include a filter pump, but power levels differ. The Intex Prism Frame and Steel Pro MAX models list filter pumps in their features. You should verify the pump type and flow rate if available. A compatible pump keeps water clear and safe. Check if the pump is included in the box or sold separately. Ensuring you have the right filtration system from the start saves time and keeps the water sanitary for your family.
