Specifications side by side

How to choose the right framed pool

1. Check frame material type

Steel frames offer rigid structural support for large rectangular pools. The Bestway Power Steel uses a steel frame for durability in large yards. Galvanized steel, like the WaterThat model, resists corrosion for year-round stability in smaller spaces. PVC components, found in the Evajoy pool, provide flexible liner support. You should match the material to your climate. Steel requires a level base to prevent warping. PVC liners need careful handling during setup. Choose based on your local weather conditions and desired lifespan for the structure.

2. Compare filtration system specs

Sand filter pumps are standard for clearing debris from large water volumes. The Intex Ultra XTR and Bestway APX 365 both include sand filtration for high capacity. Sand filters trap finer particles than cartridge filters, reducing maintenance frequency. You need a pump compatible with your pool size. Larger pools like the 32x16 ft models require higher flow rates. Check the pump’s GPH rating if available. Sand filters are heavier but last longer. Ensure the included pump matches the pool’s volume for effective circulation and clear water quality.

3. Verify included accessories

Some pools include ladders and covers, while others do not. The Evajoy and WaterThat models include ladders for safe entry. The Evajoy also includes a pool cover for debris protection. You must account for the cost and space of these items if not included. A ladder is essential for pools over 48 inches deep. Covers help retain heat and reduce cleaning time. Check the product description for included accessories. Do not assume all framed pools come with the same extras. Plan your setup budget based on what is in the box.

4. Assess pool dimensions carefully

Pool size determines water volume and yard space required. The Intex and Evajoy pools measure 32 by 16 feet, offering high capacity. The Bestway Hydrium and WaterThat are 18 feet long, fitting smaller yards. Height is consistently 52 inches across most models. You must measure your yard to ensure the pool fits with clearance. Larger pools hold more water but require more chemical treatment. Smaller pools are easier to maintain but hold less water. Compare the length and width specs to your available space before purchasing.

5. Evaluate weight and setup

Heavier pools often indicate thicker materials and better durability. The Intex Ultra XTR weighs 490 pounds, suggesting a robust structure. The Bestway Power Steel is slightly lighter at 487 pounds. You need a level, solid surface to support this weight. Uneven ground can cause frame stress and liner damage. Consider the weight for delivery and setup. Heavier pools may require more people to assemble. Lighter frames are easier to move but may be less stable. Check the weight spec to gauge construction quality and ease of installation.
