How to choose the right one
-
Check the shape and size
Match your patio layout to the tub’s footprint. Most models are 85 inches square, which fits standard decks. The top pick is 94 inches round, offering a larger diameter for more space. If you have limited square footage, the 77-inch square model is the most compact option. Measure your area carefully before buying. A round tub needs circular clearance, while square models fit into corners more easily. Ensure you have enough room for the 28-inch height plus side access.
-
Verify hard water compatibility
If you live in an area with hard water, check for built-in filtration systems. The second-ranked model includes a hard water system to prevent mineral buildup. This feature protects the internal components and maintains water clarity. Without it, calcium deposits can clog jets and reduce heating efficiency. Look for models that explicitly mention hard water handling in their features. This is a practical consideration for longevity. It ensures the spa remains hygienic without requiring excessive chemical adjustments or frequent draining.
-
Decide on app control
Determine if you want digital scheduling or manual controls. Some models support Wi-Fi connectivity via the Intex Link app. This allows you to adjust settings from your phone. Other models rely on manual buttons on the unit itself. App control adds convenience for remote adjustments. However, it requires a stable Wi-Fi connection. If you prefer simplicity, a manual model avoids technical setup. Choose based on your comfort with smart devices. This spec defines how you interact with the heater and jets daily.
-
Look for insulated covers
Heat retention is critical for energy efficiency. Most models on this list come with insulated covers. These covers reduce heat loss when the tub is not in use. This feature helps maintain temperature without constant reheating. Check the product attributes for mentions of insulated or energy-saving covers. An included cover saves you from buying a separate accessory. It also protects the water surface from debris. This spec directly impacts your operating costs and comfort during colder months.
-
Consider the weight capacity
Ensure the tub supports your group size. All listed models are rated for six people. However, the empty weight varies. The second-ranked model weighs 109 pounds, while the top pick weighs 130 pounds. Heavier units often indicate thicker materials and better stability. Consider the floor load capacity of your deck. Inflatable tubs are heavy when filled with water. Verify your surface can handle the total weight. This spec ensures safety and prevents structural damage to your patio or deck.
