Comparing the Intex Hot Tub Lineup
You can divide the Intex collection by capacity and jet design. Standard four-person models like the Intex PureSpa 4-Person Octagonal Bubble Spa focus on all-around air bubble massage using 120 jets. If you want targeted hydrotherapy alongside air bubbles, the Intex 4-Person Octagon Jet and Bubble Hot Tub adds dedicated water jets. Smaller four-person options measure between 63 and 77 inches wide, fitting tighter patio footprints.
Control options and water sanitation define the remaining models. Bathers wanting remote digital scheduling can choose app-enabled units like the Intex PureSpa 4-Person Wi-Fi Inflatable Hot Tub. For larger groups needing specialized water care, six-person layouts like the Intex PureSpa 6-Person Square Inflatable Hot Tub expand width to 94 inches while adding integrated saltwater sanitation.
Who the Intex Range Suits
The Intex lineup suits buyers wanting four-person or six-person capacities. Dimensions span from a 63-inch octagonal profile up to 94-inch square layouts, with standard wall heights of 28 inches. Profile options focus on octagonal and square shapes. If you need integrated lighting, the range provides it only on a four-person setup packaged with surround benches.
Shoppers face specific gaps across this collection. You cannot find compact two-person tubs or oversized options built for seven or more bathers. The lineup also lacks alternative wall depths beyond the standard 28-inch specification.
If you want an indoor installation instead, compare the best freestanding tub bathtubs by basin length and water depth.
How to Choose an Intex Hot Tub
-
Footprint and Bather Capacity
You need to balance seating capacity against your available ground space. Intex models provide either four-person or six-person capacities, with wall heights measuring 28 inches. Four-person units span widths between 63 and 77 inches, which fit tighter patios and decks. Six-person options measure between 85 and 94 inches, demanding broader clearance for setup. If you plan to host larger groups, consider the Intex PureSpa 6-Person Inflatable Hot Tub, which spans a wide 94-inch square footprint to provide sufficient legroom for all bathers.
-
Jet Count and Massage Type
Check the jet specifications to match your preferred massage intensity. Standard models rely exclusively on air bubble rings that deliver all-around aeration. Intex options offer 100, 120, or 140 bubble jets. If you desire focused hydrotherapy rather than general bubbles alone, look for hybrid setups that combine air bubbles with targeted water jets. The Intex 4-Person Octagon Jet and Bubble Hot Tub pairs high-pressure water massage jets with standard bubble therapy, letting you alternate between soothing aeration and focused pressure across your soaking sessions.
-
Water Treatment Systems
Evaluate the built-in water maintenance hardware before deciding. Most Intex PureSpa models feature an integrated hard water treatment system. This system conditions the water to minimize mineral buildup on internal heating elements and pump lines, extending hardware longevity in areas with mineral-rich tap water. For advanced sanitization, select configurations also incorporate saltwater systems. The Intex PureSpa 6-Person Square Inflatable Hot Tub includes integrated saltwater sanitation alongside hard water protection, reducing the need for traditional chemical additives while keeping the 104-degree water clean for group soaking.
-
Control Type and Connectivity
Review how you operate the heater and massage settings. Base models use simple push-button consoles mounted directly on the pump base, requiring physical adjustments at the tub. Higher-end models feature wireless detachable panels or Wi-Fi connectivity for smartphone integration. Wi-Fi lets you schedule heating cycles, activate filtration, and monitor temperatures remotely from your phone. If you want remote scheduling without standing outside by the pump, the Intex PureSpa 4-Person Wi-Fi Inflatable Hot Tub offers smartphone controls to manage water temperature before you step inside.
-
Wall Construction and Rigidity
Examine wall construction specs to ensure structural stability during everyday soaking. Intex relies on Fiber-Tech wall construction across several models to keep the walls firm and stable under user weight. Other builds specify three-ply construction to reinforce the exterior and interior surfaces. Selecting a tub with verified Fiber-Tech or three-ply walls prevents perimeter sagging when bathers lean against the sides. The Intex PureSpa Plus 6-Person Bubble Hot Tub provides durable three-ply construction alongside built-in hard water treatment to maintain its structural form over extended soaking sessions.
-
Cover Insulation and Heat Retention
Check whether your chosen package includes an insulated thermal cover. Because heat escapes quickly from open water surfaces, thermal insulation is critical for maintaining water temperature between sessions. Several Intex models include an energy-saving cover constructed with high-density thermal foam to minimize heat loss during storage. If heat retention is a priority for your setup, the Intex PureSpa 6-Person Hot Tub with Insulated Cover pairs heated bubble jets with an included high-density foam cover, shielding the 85-inch water surface from ambient outdoor temperature drops.
Frequently asked questions
Which Intex hot tub includes a built-in saltwater system?
The Intex PureSpa 6-Person Square Inflatable Hot Tub features built-in saltwater sanitation alongside hard water treatment. This 94-inch model heats water up to 104 degrees Fahrenheit. The system sanitizes water naturally, reducing standard chemical demands while you soak in the spacious square interior.
Can you control an Intex hot tub with a smartphone?
Yes, select models feature Wi-Fi app compatibility. The Intex PureSpa Greywood and PureSpa Chevron models allow digital scheduling and temperature adjustments via your mobile phone. These units also pair wireless remote controls with built-in panels, so you can manage spa functions without sitting directly beside the tub.
How many jets do Intex inflatable hot tubs have?
Jet counts vary depending on the specific model across the 15 options. The SimpleSpa 4-Person uses 100 jets, while the PureSpa Octagonal model delivers 120 bubble jets. The PureSpa 4-Person setup with surround benches provides 140 jets. Other editions combine bubble jets with hydrotherapy water jets.
How does the Intex hard water treatment system work?
Intex integrates hard water treatment into most PureSpa models, including the SimpleSpa and PureSpa Plus. The system softens water electronically to minimize calcium accumulation on internal heating components and spa surfaces. This built-in conditioning helps maintain water clarity and protects hardware over extended soaking periods.
How many gallons of water does a 6-person Intex hot tub hold?
A 6-person Intex PureSpa holds 290 gallons of water, as listed for the 85-inch model 28427EG. This volume pairs with an 85-inch width and 28-inch wall height. Larger 94-inch square models offer expanded foot space while maintaining identical 28-inch wall heights for seated bathers.
Do Intex hot tubs require a separate hose for inflation?
Not all models require an external hose attachment. Select units like the PureSpa Chevron models feature integrated push-button inflation built straight into the structure. This self-contained setup inflates the spa walls automatically without needing extra loose inflation hoses or manual external pump attachments before filling.
What is the maximum water temperature for an Intex hot tub?
Intex hot tubs heat up to a maximum temperature of 104 degrees Fahrenheit. Models like the 6-person square spa operate up to this industry standard. To retain warmth, Intex pairs these tubs with high-density thermal covers and insulated top lids to minimize heat loss between soaking sessions.
