Intex vs SunSwell Hot Tub Specs
Seating Capacity
Intex lists a strict six-person seating capacity for its PureSpa model. SunSwell offers a flexible range, accommodating four to six people. This difference affects how you plan your gatherings. If you consistently host larger groups, the Intex design provides dedicated space for six adults. SunSwell’s wider range means it works well for smaller families or couples who occasionally have guests. The extra space in the SunSwell unit allows for more movement when fewer people are using it. You should choose based on your typical group size rather than maximum potential occupancy.
Dimensions and Footprint
The Intex PureSpa measures 85 inches by 85 inches with a height of 28 inches. SunSwell is smaller, measuring 73 inches by 73 inches and standing 25.6 inches tall. The Intex model requires a significantly larger patio or deck area. Its square footprint is wider, offering more perimeter seating space. SunSwell’s compact size makes it easier to fit into tighter outdoor spaces. The lower height of the SunSwell unit might be easier for some users to step into. You need to measure your available space carefully before deciding, as the Intex takes up nearly 12 inches more width and length.
Jet Count and Type
SunSwell specifies 130 bubble jets powered by a 600W motor. Intex uses Heated Air Bubble Technology but does not list a specific jet count. The SunSwell model emphasizes a high number of jets for targeted bubble massage. This suggests a denser distribution of air across the tub floor. Intex focuses on the quality of the heated air system rather than quantity. The lack of a jet count for Intex makes direct comparison difficult. However, SunSwell’s explicit 130-jet count appeals to those who prefer intense, widespread bubbling action for muscle relief.
Construction Material
Intex utilizes Fiber-Tech Beam Construction, which is designed to provide lasting strength and stability. SunSwell uses premium laminated PVC material, highlighting puncture resistance and durability. Fiber-Tech suggests a reinforced structural approach for the inflatable beams. Laminated PVC focuses on the surface material’s resistance to wear and tear. Both materials aim for long-term use in outdoor environments. Intex’s approach may offer better structural rigidity, while SunSwell’s material prioritizes surface durability. You should consider which type of build aligns with your usage habits and local climate conditions.
Water Treatment Features
Intex includes a built-in Hard Water Treatment System to reduce mineral buildup and extend spa life. It also supports a Titanium Cell Saltwater Conversion Kit for chlorine-free water. SunSwell does not mention advanced water treatment systems or saltwater compatibility in its specifications. SunSwell focuses on a standard removable filtration system with four included replacement cartridges. Intex offers more advanced options for maintaining water quality, especially in areas with hard water. If you want to minimize chemical usage or deal with mineral-heavy water, Intex provides more technical solutions.
Which inflatable spa fits your needs?
You want maximum seating capacity
The Intex PureSpa lists a strict six-person seating capacity. SunSwell offers a flexible range of four to six people. If you consistently host larger groups, the Intex model provides a larger footprint at 85 inches square. This extra space ensures everyone has room to relax without feeling cramped during your gatherings.
You prefer targeted bubble massage
SunSwell features 130 powerful bubble jets powered by a 600W motor. This specific jet count delivers a more intense massage experience compared to Intex's heated air bubble technology. If you enjoy deep muscle relief and targeted pressure points, the higher number of jets in the SunSwell unit offers a distinct physical advantage for your body.
You value thermal insulation
Intex includes a high-density thermal-resistant foam cover that locks in heat. This design boosts energy efficiency by up to 50% and keeps water warmer for longer periods. If you prioritize heat retention and want to minimize energy loss during your spa sessions, the Intex insulated cover provides a practical benefit for maintaining temperature.
You need included accessories
SunSwell comes with four replacement filter cartridges included in the box. Each filter has a service life of 168 hours, ensuring uninterrupted use.
